Customer Letter Hi Bill,
I have chartered from North/South several
times.
Years ago, they had a manager in Tortola that
was, shall we say, less than honorable. The boats needed work, the
personnel were not that great and he was a thief. You always give them a
credit card, which they print on a charge slip, just incase they find
something missing or broken on the boat. If there is nothing, the charge
slip gets torn up and discarded, just like at a hotel or car rental.
Anyway, that bastard charged $200 plus on my credit card and I found it a
couple months after my charter, when the bill came in. I called Brian
Rose, the President of North/South in Canada and he credited my account.
Shortly thereafter, (name withheld) was gone.
I have found Brian Rose to be a gentleman and
honorable. In 2001, after the 9/11 attack, we had a charter scheduled for
October. My wife was afraid to fly and Brian offered to give up a charter
at a later date or totally refund our money. I talked into going and we
had a wonderful and uneventful vacation.
They have been putting a lot of time and
money into the boats. Since Chandi took over as the Manager in Tortola,
things are a lot better. I was looking over the other boats while I was
at the dock and they seem to be a lot cleaner and repaired. I charter one
of the 42 foot Trawlers. It was in great shape. A friend of ours from New
York was down there at the same time and chartered one of the 35 footers.
Bill, it looked almost new. The inside was very clean and the wood work
was redone. He was very pleased with the boat.
Before I left the dock, I found that my one
air conditioner was not blowing the FRIGID air that I require. They
recharged the air conditioner. When I got to Jost Van Dyke the next day,
I noticed some weakening of the cold air. I called them and they asked
where I was going to be later that day. I told them Norman Island. My
wife and I motored over to Norman Island through heavy rain and heavy
seas. My wife said, "Do you think they'll show up?" Five
minutes later, there was a knock on the boat and a service guy and an
outside air conditioning contractor were in a chase boat, soaked to the
bone. The spent some time and the a/c guy said he had to take the
compressor back to his shop and they would be back fist thing in the
morning. They left a large fan with me and I set it up to blow cold air
from the saloon down into the aft cabin. It was nice a cool sleeping that
night. The next morning my wife and I went ashore to beach comb and I
took my hand held VHF radio with me. Within fifteen minutes, I saw
their boat pulling up. I talked to them on the radio and when they were
finished, they called me. When I got back to the boat, It was like Antarctica
in the aft cabin. And that was the way it stayed the rest of the trip.
Anyway.......that showed me that they were really trying and I was very
pleased.
Bill, I highly recommend North/South. If you
have any questions or problems.........Brian Rose is very willing to
personally solve any problems or questions.

Geroge Baust
