What to Pack for your trip
Most people have a tendency to "over pack" for any vacation,
let alone a boating vacation, where you have to be ready for dress up as well as
dress down. Well, our rule for packing for a boating vacation is
simple…"if it all doesn't fit in your carry-on bags, you've probably brought too much stuff".
For women, believe it or not, you don't need
a curling iron, rollers or hair dryer. Actually, everything dries
very quickly in the sea breeze. For guys, forget the shaving gear. Salt
water chafes tender skin after shaving anyway. More to the point,
casual attire, shorts and lots and lots of T-shirts are the norm; however,
a sun dress and cotton slacks are nice for excursions ashore or for dinner
in some of the best places. Soft sided luggage is best as you can
store it easier on the boat. Shore side storage is not available
for empty cases.
And don't forget the moisturizer, sun glasses
and above all…. a good floppy hat. Sailing gloves or just
good old work gloves can be of some help when raising the anchor.
Boat shoes, sandals or crocs are normal. Most places will not
serve you without a shirt and sometimes, shoes. Sneakers can be too warm and
are bulky to pack.
And last, but not least, the best sun block
you can get ..... and don't forget to use it, often.
